About The Position

Student Health Services is seeking a Staff Psychiatrist to provide meaningful clinical work without the pressures of private practice. It involves supporting students during a pivotal stage of their development through psychiatric evaluation, medication management, and consultation within a collaborative care model. Requirements

  • Graduation from an approved and accredited medical school
  • A license to practice in the state of Iowa
  • Board Certification/Eligibility in Psychiatry
  • Minimum of 3 years of related experience
  • Interest and knowledge of college health issues
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience creating and maintaining a welcoming and respectful environment

Responsibilities

  • Perform/order medical diagnostic, therapeutic procedures, and prescribe, dispense or deliver medications.
  • Consult/collaborate with other care team members.
  • Use judgment to apply/adopt information within total clinical picture to address health issues.
  • Influence others to adopt best practices.
  • Complete patient medical records, reports, and forms to record treatment for treatment record and billing purposes.
  • Improve quality of care by performing chart reviews and participating on performance improvement committees.
  • Provide health education to patients and medical education to health professions students and residents.
  • Through health promotion maximize student learning, retention and success.
  • Assure team provides effective collaboration/communications.
  • Serve on committees to enhance patient care and operations.
