About The Position

The School Health Assistant I is responsible for assisting with the health needs of students and staff within the school environment. This role supports the overall health services program, ensuring a safe and healthy school setting. The position operates on an 11-month schedule (Track E6) with 7 hours of work per day.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Completion of a state-approved Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or equivalent program.
Current CPR and First Aid certification.
Experience in a healthcare setting, preferably with children or adolescents.
Ability to administer medications accurately and safely.
Knowledge of basic health screening procedures.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to maintain confidentiality of student health information.
Proficiency in using electronic health record systems.
Must complete the entire three (3) year work history in the "Experience and Credentials" section of the application, including periods of unemployment, schooling, and volunteer work.

Nice To Haves

Previous experience working in a school setting.
Additional certifications in specialized healthcare areas.

Responsibilities

Assist licensed school nurses and other health professionals in providing direct student care.
Perform basic health screenings and assessments as directed.
Administer medications to students according to established protocols and physician orders.
Maintain accurate and confidential student health records.
Respond to student health emergencies and provide first aid.
Assist with health education programs and initiatives.
Maintain inventory of medical supplies and equipment.
Ensure a clean and safe health office environment.
Communicate with parents/guardians regarding student health concerns.
Support the implementation of health policies and procedures.
