About The Position

Ventura County Medical Center (VCMC) is seeking a Staff Psychiatrist for its Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU). VCMC is a 229-bed, fully-integrated hospital offering a comprehensive system of hospital, clinic, and specialty services. It is recognized for its Family Medicine Residency Program and is the only academic teaching hospital in Ventura County affiliated with the UCLA School of Medicine. VCMC also serves as the designated Level II Trauma Center for the west county, known for its exceptional trauma team. The position involves working within the CSU, the Ventura County Emergency Department, and providing consultations in the main hospital. Spanish-speaking ability is preferred due to the patient population.

Requirements

  • Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree.
  • Board certification or eligibility in Psychiatry.
  • Valid medical license to practice in California.
  • Experience in crisis intervention and stabilization.
  • Ability to work a 7 days on / 7 days off rotating schedule with 12-hour shifts.

  • Spanish-speaking ability is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide psychiatric services within the Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU).
  • See patients in the CSU.
  • See patients in the Ventura County Emergency Department.
  • Provide consultations in the main hospital.
