About The Position

As a Staff Product Systems Engineer on General Motors’ Embedded Application System Engineering (EAS) team, you will help develop end-to-end next-generation EV Charging and V2X solutions. Using Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) principles, you will turn product requirements into system architectures, functional designs, simulation environments, and testable hardware and software requirements. You will collaborate with engineering, product, validation, UX, and program teams to develop reliable, customer-focused features for the connected vehicle experience. The role includes technically leading related systems engineers, contributing to co-simulation environments for products, and representing the systems team on architecture review boards for VIP and SDV platforms. You will also lead complex cross-functional initiatives to improve traceability, efficiency, and performance across the EAS team and the broader organization. The position is hybrid. The selected candidate is expected to report to a specific location at least three times per week, or at another frequency directed by their manager. Relocation benefits are available to candidates who qualify under company policy.

Requirements

  • At least 8 years of experience in systems engineering, embedded software, infotainment, mechatronics, or a related development domain such as automotive or control systems.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Computer, Software, or Mechatronics Engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of systems and software architecture, embedded software development, and testing methodologies.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in a related field such as systems, software, hardware, or electronics.
  • Experience with requirements tools such as DOORS/DNG, Confluence, and Rhapsody.
  • Experience with agentic workflows, artificial intelligence, or AI-based optimization of processes and systems engineering problems.
  • Ability to analyze unusual and complex issues and drive results in ambiguous, fast-paced environments.
  • Experience with Agile or SAFe development methodologies.
  • Experience in CI/CD automation and continuous testing strategies.
  • Experience with Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) and Behavior-Driven Development (BDD).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for navigating complex technical challenges.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate across global teams and functional areas.
  • Organizational agility and effectiveness in cross-functional environments.

  • Strong project management skills, including planning and prioritizing work and executing plans to meet business objectives on time and with quality.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead development of product taxonomy by decomposing product targets into feature, system, solution, and API capabilities.
  • Identify, develop, and define feature, system, and solution requirements, interfaces, states, and performance targets across infotainment, mechatronics, compute, and other domain systems.
  • Use MBSE or model-based development to define functions and linkages through use case diagrams, activity diagrams, API connections, and related models.
  • Support requirements, architecture, and FMEA development at each level of Quad decomposition: System, Solution, Product, and Architecture.
  • Participate in decomposing and allocating product, feature, and system functionality to software and platform teams.
  • Collaborate with software engineering, validation, UX, mobile, vehicle platform, infrastructure, and Cloud Services teams.
  • Manage change control, architectural allocation, and partitioning for optimization.
  • Assist with issue triage, PRTS, root-cause analysis, and resolution during development and testing.
  • Document system deliverables, maintain requirements traceability, and support program milestones and readiness reviews.
  • Technically lead a team of related systems engineers.
  • Help define co-simulation environments developed for each product.
  • Represent the systems team in architecture review boards making overarching architectural decisions for VIP and SDV platforms.
  • Lead complex cross-functional initiatives to improve traceability, efficiency, and performance for the EAS team and the broader organization.
