About The Position

Reddit is seeking an experienced Product Manager to build a safe experience for younger users while preserving a high-quality consumer experience. The role owns ambiguous, zero-to-one product problems at the intersection of consumer product, safety, identity and age assurance, and global regulation. The Product Manager will work with Legal and cross-functional partners to determine product requirements, frame options and tradeoffs, and ship scalable experiences that can adapt as laws and expectations evolve across markets. The position is responsible for the strategy, roadmap, requirements, launches, and measurable outcomes of Youth product initiatives. This includes developing age-assurance and third-party age-verification flows, recovery and appeal experiences, youth-specific protections and controls, and product frameworks for translating regulations into practical decisions. The role also defines success metrics and launch guardrails, monitors outcomes and user friction, iterates using data and qualitative feedback, and communicates strategy, risks, decisions, and progress to senior stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Significant product management experience building and launching consumer products at large scale.
  • Demonstrated zero-to-one ownership, including framing ambiguous problems, setting strategy, writing requirements, shipping, learning, and iterating.
  • Strong cross-functional leadership and ability to negotiate high-stakes tradeoffs with Legal, Engineering, Data, Safety/Policy, and senior stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and first-principles problem-solving skills, including the ability to distinguish legal requirements from interpretations and convert ambiguity into decision frameworks.
  • Experience launching products across multiple markets or navigating meaningful market-specific requirements.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, including concise articulation of options, risk, rationale, and recommendations.

Nice To Haves

  • Direct Trust & Safety, youth safety, child/teen product, age assurance/verification, verified-account, or parental-control experience.
  • Experience with youth-focused or high-safety consumer products in high-scale environments.
  • Experience with content access controls, safety systems, notifications/personalization, messaging/chat protections, or other regulated consumer features.
  • Familiarity with ML/model-based classification and the product implications of false positives, false negatives, appeals, and verification fallbacks.

Responsibilities

  • Own strategy, roadmap, requirements, launch, and measurable outcomes for Youth product initiatives.
  • Build and evolve age-assurance and third-party age-verification flows, including recovery and appeal experiences for users who are incorrectly classified.
  • Develop youth-specific product protections and controls, including age-gated content experiences, parental-control flows, and appropriate restrictions on product mechanics such as notifications, personalization, or chat where required.
  • Translate changing global regulations into objective product frameworks, clarifying requirements, deadlines, consequences, country exceptions, and viable product options with Legal and Policy.
  • Make principled tradeoffs among compliance, user experience, product value, technical complexity, and speed, and escalate with clear evidence.
  • Partner with Engineering, Data/ML, Design, Research, Safety, Policy, Legal, and adjacent Product teams to ship durable solutions at Reddit scale.
  • Define success metrics and launch guardrails, monitor false positives, false negatives, and user friction where relevant, and iterate based on data and qualitative feedback.
  • Communicate strategy, risk, decisions, and progress clearly to senior stakeholders, including Product leadership.
