The Lending team is responsible for building and scaling Airwallex’s credit and lending capabilities across both embedded lending and first-party lending models. This is a highly strategic space that sits at the centre of customer value creation, commercial growth, and platform differentiation. The team operates with a startup mindset inside Airwallex, tackling complex challenges across product, credit risk, capital, compliance, and go-to-market. What you'll do As Staff Product Manager, Lending, you will lead some of the company’s most important and complex lending opportunities. You will define strategy across large problem spaces, drive alignment across senior stakeholders, and shape how Airwallex builds differentiated lending products globally. You will operate with broad scope and high autonomy, balancing long-term vision with near-term execution. You will be expected to bring strong commercial judgment, deep customer empathy, and the ability to navigate ambiguity across multiple teams and workstreams. In addition to building products, you will help raise the bar for product thinking, execution quality, and strategic clarity across the wider organisation.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of overall professional experience, including substantial product management experience in fintech, financial services, lending, or other complex regulated domains
  • Strong track record of leading large, ambiguous product areas from strategy through execution and measurable business impact
  • Deep experience building, scaling, or significantly evolving lending, credit, or embedded finance products
  • Strong commercial and analytical judgment, with experience balancing customer needs, business performance, and risk considerations
  • Proven ability to influence senior cross-functional stakeholders and drive alignment without relying on formal authority
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to articulate strategy, priorities, and trade-offs to both executive and working teams
  • Ability to thrive in cross-cultural and cross-functional teams
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher with strong academic achievement

Nice To Haves

  • Experience across both embedded lending and first-party lending products
  • Experience working with credit risk, underwriting models, capital structures, or funding partnerships
  • Strong understanding of SME banking, lending regulations, and market structure in one or more global markets
  • Experience launching zero-to-one products and then scaling them in high-growth environments
  • Background in software engineering, quantitative disciplines, finance, or strategy/consulting
  • Experience mentoring PMs or acting as a functional leader across a broader product area

Responsibilities

  • Define and drive the product strategy for significant parts of Airwallex’s lending platform, including embedded lending and first-party lending capabilities
  • Lead highly ambiguous, high-impact initiatives across origination, underwriting, servicing, repayment, partner enablement, and portfolio optimisation
  • Identify and evaluate major market opportunities, customer segments, and product bets, and translate them into multi-quarter roadmaps and clear execution plans
  • Partner closely with engineering, design, data, commercial, credit risk, legal, compliance, finance, and operations leaders to align on strategy and deliver outcomes
  • Shape product and business trade-offs across growth, unit economics, customer experience, operational scalability, and risk performance
  • Build scalable product frameworks, decision principles, and operating models that enable Airwallex to expand lending across markets and use cases
  • Work with external stakeholders such as financial institutions, capital providers, data partners, and regulatory stakeholders where needed to unlock product capability and scale
  • Use data, customer insight, and market intelligence to continuously refine strategy and improve business performance
  • Mentor other product managers and raise the standard of product craft, strategic thinking, and cross-functional leadership within the team
