About The Position

Babylist is seeking Staff Product Managers to own significant areas of its consumer experience and establish the standard for AI-native Product Management at scale. The role involves end-to-end ownership of a major Babylist surface or core customer journey, acting as the primary expert and strategist for that area. This includes setting a one-year strategic vision, maintaining quality standards, and operating with speed and a focus on impact. A key aspect of the role is driving Babylist's transition to AI-native product development by setting an example in personal work, team standards, and functional rituals. The position requires individuals who can take ownership, be opinionated, and adapt quickly to different product areas based on organizational needs and their strengths. This role reports to a Product Director and collaborates with various stakeholders across the company.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated product leadership experience, having owned a major consumer product surface end-to-end at meaningful scale.
  • Proven record of defining product strategy, creating impact, leading cross-functional teams in execution, and working with executive leaders on complex consumer product problems.
  • Experience in Senior PM, Staff PM, GPM, or Director roles.
  • Strategic foresight: ability to articulate a surface's future state (6, 12, 18 months) and define the path to get there.
  • Strong, opinionated product views and the ability to update priors based on new information.
  • Deep customer expertise, including understanding and co-creating with users, demonstrating curiosity and customer obsession.
  • Ability to bring concrete qualitative and quantitative evidence into decision-making.
  • Focus on solving root pain points rather than adjacent symptoms, and creating segmentation clarity.
  • Strong product sense, with the instinct for what's worth building and the right UX, supported by shipped work and killed projects.
  • Commercial ownership: fluency in business, understanding of surface monetization, ability to defend unit economics models, and independent partnership with finance and data teams.
  • Outcome ownership: accountability for delivering meaningful results, building appropriate measures of success, and leading clear persist/pivot/stop decisions post-launch.
  • Clarity of thought and communication that moves conversations forward quickly.
  • Ability to encourage productive conflict and surface misalignment early.
  • Owns the quality bar and principles for building within their surface.
  • Technical fluency, potentially demonstrated through a CS degree, prior developer experience, early-stage company experience where product and build lines were blurred, or a portfolio of self-built projects.
  • Adaptability to change, selecting for it rather than against it.
  • Willingness to jump in where needed, working across team boundaries and roles without waiting for permission.
  • Humility, low-ego, and a bias toward action.
  • AI-native: Actively uses LLMs and AI coding tools in daily work.
  • Intuition for current AI model capabilities and limitations.
  • Ability to decompose problems for AI agents, review and refine their output, and combine AI speed with human judgment.
  • Excitement about the AI transformation and a desire to shape the future of AI-first product organizations.
