About The Position

At Ordergroove, Platform Engineering doesn't just manage infrastructure—we build the engine that powers the subscription economy. We are the foundation that every internal team, thousands of enterprise merchants, and increasingly, autonomous AI agents, rely on to operate at scale. We are looking for a product-minded Staff Software Engineer who defines success by business outcomes, not just technical solutions. In this role, you won't just implement tickets; you will own foundational platform capabilities end-to-end and help define the paradigm of modern platform engineering in an AI-first company. Platform Engineering sits at the absolute center of every major initiative at Ordergroove. If you want to build high-leverage primitives that amplify the velocity of an entire engineering organization, your impact here will be outsized.

Requirements

A Systems Thinker with Product Empathy: You care deeply about the why behind the code. You build platform software like a product, obsessed with the developer experience and customer impact.
An Architect of Distributed Systems: You have a proven track record of designing robust, high-scale APIs and backend services consumed across diverse client ecosystems.
Pragmatic and Quality-Driven: You believe simple code is beautiful code. You write maintainable, production-ready software and naturally raise the engineering bar for automated testing, CI/CD, and security.
Deep experience with our stack (Python, Go, Kubernetes, Event-Driven Systems, GCP) and emerging AI technologies is incredible, but your engineering fundamentals, architectural intuition, and drive to learn matter more than a checklist.

Responsibilities

Pioneer the AI-First Platform: Build the next-generation APIs, SDKs, and Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers that allow both human engineers and AI agents to safely, easily, and frictionlessly interact with our platform.
Own Core Capabilities End-to-End: Architect and evolve the mission-critical systems powering Ordergroove, from core domain models and distributed event-driven architectures to enterprise identity (OIDC, OAuth, SSO) and high-throughput order processing.
Design for Massive Scale: Ensure high availability, low latency, and fault tolerance across a multi-tenant environment. You will set the standard for operational resilience, observability, and SLOs.
Champion a "You Build It, You Run It" Culture: Take complete accountability for the full lifecycle of your services—from deeply understanding merchant pain points to designing the architecture, shipping production code, and optimizing system health.
Architect the next version of Developer Experience (DevX): Abstract away complexity. Build intuitive tooling and reusable platform primitives that enable internal product engineering teams, partners, and merchants to build rapidly with minimal operational overhead.
