About The Position

Quizlet is seeking a product designer to own experiences that turn first-time visitors into committed learners. The role focuses on the new-learner journey, including sign-up, onboarding, personalization, the first study session, and early habit loops. The designer will work with product design, product management, engineering, and marketing partners, with ownership from discovery through launch and iteration. Success is measured by outcomes such as activation, early retention, and time to first value. This hybrid position is based in Quizlet’s San Francisco office, with employees expected to work onsite at least two days per week, Wednesday and Thursday. The designer will independently deliver complex, multi-feature projects to a high standard, use research and data to identify friction, and design and iterate on experiments. The role also involves applying emerging technologies, including AI-powered personalization, and incorporating AI tools into the design process.

  • A portfolio demonstrating end-to-end ownership of complex, multi-feature projects.
  • Demonstrated experience designing onboarding, activation, growth, or conversion experiences at consumer scale.
  • Strong interaction and visual design craft, with systems thinking across web and native mobile.
  • Comfort with data, including defining success metrics, reading funnels and experiment results, and using them to shape decisions.
  • Ability to work independently, proactively resolve issues, and drive alignment across product, engineering, and marketing partners.
  • Clear communication of design rationale, including leading discussions with recommendations and debating trade-offs.
  • Experience giving feedback that raises the quality of peers’ work.
  • Curiosity and thought leadership about current best practices and emerging technologies, including how AI can make learning more personal.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience designing for students, education, or younger audiences, including familiarity with privacy and age-appropriate design.

  • Develop well-crafted solutions to complex problems by evaluating options and trade-offs.
  • Use quantitative and qualitative insights, including funnel analysis, A/B tests, and UX research, to identify friction and opportunities.
  • Design and iterate on experiments and use the results to guide subsequent work.
  • Apply industry best practices and emerging technologies, including AI-powered personalization, to improve the team’s work.
  • Innovate in the use of AI in the design process to improve quality and speed while growing technical knowledge.
