About The Position

Engine is transforming business travel by creating a personalized, rewarding, and simple platform that integrates corporate travel, a charge card, and modern spend management. The company is experiencing rapid growth and is backed by prominent investors. The Design team at Engine comprises over 35 professionals driving product vision and shaping a unique design culture. Designers are part of the core 'Big 4' team (product, design, engineering, and data) responsible for roadmap and vision. The Flights team specifically focuses on the flight booking experience, from search to selection. This role will set the design standard for Flights Search, influencing how millions of travelers discover, compare, and choose flights. It's a hands-on, technical, AI-native position focused on designing scalable systems and patterns that are elegant, ship at scale, and reduce design dependency. The designer will partner with product and engineering at the architecture level and define AI-native design principles for the team. The ideal candidate is proactive, skilled in coding prototypes, uses tools like Cursor and Figma Make daily, and designs components that empower PMs and EMs to ship independently. The role is for someone passionate about designing high-volume product surfaces and driving self-initiated improvements.

Requirements

• Mastery of the full product development process—from product planning and discovery to concepts, build-ready designs, prototypes.
• Already ahead of the AI curve. Builds prototypes in code, integrates AI into the design workflow as a daily operating tool, not a side project.
• Proven experience managing stakeholders in partnership with PMs, engineers, data, and executives.
• Designs patterns, templates, and components that enable PMs and EMs to ship paper cuts independently.
• Clear communication and storytelling skills—you can explain not just what you designed, but why.
