About The Position
The Staff Pharmacist provides pharmaceutical care to customers by accurately processing and dispensing prescription orders, counseling customers about health care and prescription medication needs, administering immunizations and other Walmart programs, and maintaining confidential information, controlled medication, documentation, and records in accordance with company policies and applicable regulations. The role provides comprehensive patient care while ensuring appropriate billing, HIPAA adherence, and compliance with pharmacy procedures and standards. The pharmacist promotes quality patient care, safety, and accuracy; communicates expectations; ensures standard operating procedures and patient-safety goals are followed; provides counseling and required documentation; identifies opportunities for improvement; and develops actions to address root causes and reduce risk. The role also supports compliance initiatives through communication, training, monitoring, and auditing. The position models and guides customer service, company policies, ethics, and integrity; builds relationships with stakeholders; supports business solutions and operational execution; and helps develop and mentor associates. Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy, PharmD degree, or equivalent FPGE (NABP).
- Pharmacy license by the job entry date.
- Completion of an ACPE-accredited immunization training program, such as APhA, pharmacy school curriculum, or a state pharmacy association-sponsored program.
Responsibilities
- Process and accurately dispense prescription orders.
- Counsel customers on health care and prescription medication needs, including new therapies and services when required or requested, and document counseling appropriately.
- Administer immunizations and other programs developed by Walmart in accordance with Board of Pharmacy statutes and regulations.
- Maintain confidential information, controlled medication, required documentation, and records in accordance with company policies and applicable local, state, and federal guidelines.
- Promote quality patient care, safety, and accuracy, and communicate expectations for patient safety and quality of care.
- Ensure associates follow standard operating procedures and meet patient-safety and quality goals.
- Identify areas for improvement and implement interventions to improve team knowledge, patient safety, and risk reduction.
- Promote transparent reporting of actual or perceived errors and create timely action plans addressing root causes.
- Communicate, train, and guide associates in completing and following up on health care compliance initiatives.
- Monitor compliance execution, ensure appropriate billing and HIPAA practices, and use audits to identify and address compliance issues.
- Model and guide proper customer service practices and help resolve customer needs, complaints, and issues within company guidelines.
- Support business solutions by building stakeholder relationships, identifying business needs, carrying out processes, monitoring results, and adapting to changing demands.
- Ensure compliance with company and legal policies, procedures, regulations, safety controls, loss-prevention requirements, and quality assurance reviews.
- Develop, mentor, and support associates; build trusting team relationships and contribute to a culture of belonging, integrity, and continuous improvement.
