About The Position

CVS Health is seeking a full-time Staff Pharmacist to support the safe and effective operation of a retail pharmacy and deliver compassionate, patient-centered care. The role supports the Pharmacy Manager in leading the pharmacy team and overseeing pharmacy operations. During bench shifts without overlap, the Staff Pharmacist may oversee the pharmacy as the manager’s proxy and assume day-to-day duties when serving as the only or primary pharmacist on duty. The Staff Pharmacist supports accurate prescription fulfillment, patient counseling, immunizations, clinical services, inventory management, regulatory compliance, and positive patient experiences. The position also involves coaching pharmacy team members, maintaining clinical and technical skills, and adapting to scheduling and business needs. Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends, is required.

Requirements

Active pharmacist license in the state where the store is located.
Active National Provider Identifier (NPI).
Must not be on the DEA Excluded Parties list.

Ability to confirm prescription information and label accuracy.

Mathematical reasoning skills to perform prescription-dispensing calculations.

Ability to meet the stated physical demands, including standing or remaining upright for extended periods, lifting and handling items, reaching, repetitive finger movements, stooping, close visual work, and occasional lifting or exertion of up to 20 pounds.

Responsibilities

Help manage and improve patient health through safe and appropriate dispensing, counseling, and immunizing practices.
Take direction from the Pharmacy Manager and oversee the pharmacy as their proxy during bench shifts without overlap.
Assume the Pharmacy Manager’s day-to-day duties when serving as the only or primary pharmacist on duty.
Support pharmacy performance through effective coaching and consistent follow-up with team members, and provide the Pharmacy Manager with feedback on team performance as needed.
Support safe and accurate prescription fulfillment by following and directing the pharmacy team to follow workflow procedures and safety guardrails.
Promote positive patient experiences through empathy, compassionate care, collaboration with patients’ healthcare teams, and proactive resolution of insurance or medication issues.
Offer and deliver immunizations and support Pharmacy Technicians in learning to immunize.
Manage pharmacy inventory according to best practices, with particular attention to protecting cold-chain products.
Partner with the Pharmacy Manager to maintain compliance with state Board of Pharmacy regulations and escalate issues or concerns as needed.
Remain flexible to scheduling and business needs, contribute to a safe and inclusive team dynamic, and write the pharmacy schedule if directed.
Maintain relevant clinical and technical skills, complete required training and continuing medical education, and seek opportunities to expand knowledge.
Support access to care and patient outcomes through pharmacist-delivered clinical services, including testing and prescribing where permissible.
Follow applicable laws, regulations, professional standards, ethical principles, and CVS Health policies and procedures, including requirements for controlled substances, patient privacy, security, and workplace safety.
