About The Position
The Staff Pharmacist provides pharmaceutical care to customers by processing and accurately dispensing prescriptions, counseling customers about health care and medication needs, administering immunizations, and delivering other Walmart health programs in compliance with applicable Board of Pharmacy statutes and regulations. The role maintains confidential information, controlled medications, required documentation, and assigned records in accordance with company policies and local, state, and federal guidelines. The pharmacist promotes patient care, safety, and accuracy; communicates expectations for quality care; ensures that standard operating procedures and patient-safety goals are followed; and provides counseling and information about health services when required or requested. The position identifies opportunities to improve team knowledge and reduce risk, encourages transparent reporting of errors, and develops action plans addressing root causes. The role supports healthcare compliance by communicating and training associates on compliance initiatives, monitoring execution, ensuring proper billing and HIPAA practices, and using audits to identify and address compliance issues. It also provides guidance on customer service, helps resolve customer concerns, supports business solutions and operational initiatives, and models company policies, ethics, integrity, and values. The pharmacist develops and mentors others, builds effective working relationships, adapts to changing priorities, and contributes to continuous improvement.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy, PharmD degree, or equivalent FPGE (NABP).
- Pharmacy license by job entry date.
- Completion of an ACPE-accredited immunization training program, such as APhA training, pharmacy school curriculum, or state pharmacy association-sponsored training.
Responsibilities
- Process and accurately dispense prescription orders and counsel customers on health care and prescription medication needs.
- Administer immunizations and other Walmart health programs in compliance with applicable pharmacy statutes and regulations.
- Maintain confidential information, controlled medications, documentation, and assigned records as required by company policies and applicable laws.
- Promote patient care, safety, and dispensing accuracy; communicate expectations and hold others accountable for standard operating procedures and quality goals.
- Provide counseling and health-service information for new therapies, new items, and as requested or required, with appropriate documentation.
- Identify improvements in team knowledge, patient safety, and risk reduction; promote transparent error reporting and create action plans addressing root causes.
- Communicate, train, and guide associates on healthcare compliance initiatives and monitor their execution.
- Ensure appropriate billing procedures, HIPAA compliance, and standard operating procedure execution; use audits to identify and improve compliance issues.
- Model and guide proper customer service approaches and help resolve customer needs, complaints, and issues within company guidelines.
- Support business solutions and strategic initiatives by building stakeholder relationships, identifying needs, carrying out processes, monitoring results, and adapting to changing demands.
- Model company policies, ethics, integrity, and values; support safety, operational, quality assurance, loss-prevention, and compliance controls.
- Build trusting team relationships, communicate effectively, and help develop and mentor associates.
