Requirements

A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited School of Pharmacy or PharmD
A current, unrestricted Texas Pharmacist License
Strong analytical skills; ability to quickly identify problems and find effective solutions
Strong written and oral communication skills
Basic computer skills; experience with Microsoft Excel and Word preferred
Ability to make independent decisions
Ability to multitask and complete jobs without supervision
Ability to assess information and make prudent, professional decisions.
Ability to work and produce results under pressure.
Ability to effectively and harmoniously interact with facility, management and other employees at all levels; promotes teamwork and professionalism.
Must be dependable and able to work with minimal supervision.
Must be at least 21 years of age.
Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand English.

Responsibilities

Evaluate medication orders for appropriateness of drug, dosage, route of administration, potential drug interactions, and special geriatric considerations, warnings/precautions associated with prescribed medication, potential adverse reactions, and stability.
Procure and maintain all required documentation in accordance with state and federal regulations, as well as M CHEST policy.
Ensures accuracy of filled medications.
Conduct audits of automated dispensing machines to ensure accuracy of filled medications.
Provides Clinical expertise by responding professionally to medication related questions.
Assists the PIC with instructing, directing and overseeing pharmacy technicians and staff.
Follows current guidelines for preparing all compounds, including I.V. therapy.
Understand and follow M CHEST Policy and Procedures.
Be able to work the 7 on and 7 off shift that includes nights and weekends.
Accepts ownership and accountability for the successful completion of assigned functions and achievement of goals.
Strives for compliance by all staff with internal controls and state and federal regulations.
Participates in the development and successful implementation of plan(s) of improvement as indicated, recommended and/or required by Supervisor, Manager, or any other home office or regulatory compliance consultant.
Communicates progress toward goals and ongoing obstacles to supervisor and company management team, verbally and/or in writing or as dictated.
