About The Position

This position has been designated as safety sensitive and cannot be filled by a candidate who is a current user of medical marijuana. The Staff Pharmacist will verify the appropriateness of all doses in reference to the child’s diagnosis, weight, age and body surface area. They will identify and intervene when problems involving drug therapy arise, such as allergies, drug interactions, therapeutic duplications, adverse drug reactions, and compatibility issues. The pharmacist will also verify the appropriateness of drug selection, initiate drug therapy when needed, and suggest equally efficacious but less expensive therapy. They will evaluate the need for all non-formulary drugs and ensure patients receive the ordered medication as to dose, route, salt, regimen, and generic substitution. Additionally, the pharmacist will ensure that all medications meet the highest standards in quality and preparation of the final dosage form, and that all drug products are neatly prepared and labeled, including the use of appropriate auxiliary labels/comments. The role involves processing all orders efficiently and correctly, establishing priorities, and processing orders in a timely manner. The pharmacist will serve in a professional capacity in patient care areas, monitor patients to assure optimal therapeutic outcomes, and make appropriate recommendations to other health care providers. They will participate in the education and training of patients, technicians, pharmacists, and students, and serve as a teacher and participate in discharge planning. The position also includes performing drug information activities, processing all information requests accurately and efficiently, and completing documentation. The pharmacist will review patients and assess for compliance with AC criteria concerning food drug interactions and therapeutic drug monitoring, and assist in drug utilization review activities. They will place orders with the local wholesaler for medications and supplies and back orders directly with the manufacturer for items in short supply when the local wholesaler is unable to supply. The pharmacist will ensure that substitution items are obtained when the original item is unavailable and that substitution items are checked by the appropriate manager. They will notify the Pharmacy manager immediately of any items unavailable at the time of purchase. The role also coordinates the loan/borrow process, recalls, and coordinates annual departmental inventory. Other duties as assigned will also be performed.

Requirements

Doctorate of Pharmacy or Bachelor of Pharmacy (if obtained prior to 2000)
Pharmacist - AR State Board of Pharmacy
