The Staff Nurse provides and coordinates nursing care in the Pediatrics/PICU department within the Hennepin Healthcare System Patient and Family Centered Care model and under general supervision. The nurse protects, promotes, and optimizes health; prevents illness and injury; alleviates suffering through treatment of the human response; partners with patients, families, and significant others; and documents interventions and individualized plans of care. This is a casual position with no regularly appointed or assigned scheduled hours. Casual nurses must make themselves available for at least two open shifts of eight hours or more (or an equivalent number of hours) during each four-week scheduling period, at straight time, including at least one weekend shift. They must also make themselves available for two designated holiday shifts each calendar year, including at least one winter holiday. Holiday shifts must be full eight- or twelve-hour shifts. Nurses cannot hold both a casual and a regularly scheduled position within the same facility. Moving from a benefit-earning position to this casual position means reducing hours to casual status without benefits.
