About The Position

The University of Iowa Health Care Department of Nursing is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Adult Acute Care Unit (2JCP), part of the Medical Surgical Services division. This 30-bed medical-surgical unit serves patients from Family Medicine and specialized surgical services, including otolaryngology (ENT), oral surgery, and plastic reconstructive surgery. The unit offers private rooms and works with a multidisciplinary team to provide individualized patient care and support.

Requirements

• Associate’s Degree in Nursing, Diploma in Nursing, Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing, Professional Masters of Nursing and Healthcare Practice (MNHP), MSN/Clinical Nurse Leader, or a Master’s Degree in Nursing (MSN, MA).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with patients and families, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary team members, demonstrated through written and verbal interactions.
• General computer skills.
• Current license to practice nursing in Iowa by the date of hire.

Nice To Haves

• Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing or Master’s Degree in Nursing.
• Active enrollment in a BSN program if a Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing has not yet been obtained.
• Previous telemetry experience.
• Knowledge of University policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Provide individualized nursing care and support to patients in the Adult Acute Care Unit.
• Work with patients’ families, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary team members to support patient care.
