About The Position

University of Iowa Healthcare - Department of Otolaryngology is seeking a 75%25 Staff Nurse to join their busy tertiary care practice. This role is essential in ensuring top-quality service for patients within a nationally ranked Ear, Nose, and Throat specialty department. The clinic serves a range of subspecialties and collaborates with the Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center, focusing on head and neck cancer care. The mission of the department is to provide exemplary clinical practice in medical and surgical care across various otolaryngology subspecialties, advancing research and delivering leading-edge care.

Requirements

• An Associate's Degree, a diploma in Nursing, a Baccalaureate Degree, Professional Masters of Nursing and Healthcare Practice (MNHP), MSN/Clinical Nurse Leader or a Master's Dergee in Nursing (MSN, MA) Is required.
• Currenrt licnese to practice nursing in Iowa
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
• Demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills with patients/families, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary team members as demonstrated through written and verbal interactions.
• General computer skills are required

Responsibilities

• Providing pre-operative education for Otolaryngology surgical patient populations from Pediatrics to Adult, including sending video links, phone calls, and in-person.
• Applies nursing theory to the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and evaluation of patient responses to health and illness.
• Assesses patient health care preferences and expectations.
• Assist with pre-operative education for Otolaryngology surgical patient populations from Pediatrics to Adult.
• Collaboratively coordinates the continuum of care across settings.
• Assist in clinic with MA & MD staff weekly clinics.
• Possibly Assist with Minor Procedures within clinic, Minor Room and Surgicenter Procedures.
• Develops patient care plan based on patient condition, age, and psychological, educational, and socioeconomic conditions that prescribes interventions to attain expected outcomes.
• Implements patient care plan according to patient priorities, which includes interventions identified through nursing diagnoses. Documents/reports interventions and patient/family response.
• Collaborates and integrates contributions of patients and families into multidisciplinary patient care plan.
• Assists with coordinating transfer/discharge planning throughout episode of care.
• Implements nursing interventions according to department, division, and/or unit policies, procedures, and protocols to maintain safe environment for patients, visitors and staff. Follows universal precautions.
