About The Position
The Staff Nurse is a professional nurse registered in Massachusetts who plans and provides patient care for assigned patients in accordance with Nursing Standards of Care in the Nursing Department's Clinical Practice Manual. The nurse demonstrates initiative, knowledge, and clinical skills in caring for patients with complex needs, and manages care by taking responsibility for assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. The role is directly responsible to a designated nurse manager or supervisor and supports the Patient and Family Centered Care Model in an environment that exemplifies best practice. As a Med Surg Float Pool nurse, the Staff Nurse floats among the hospital’s units and provides care where needed, working with different patient populations and specialties while developing a versatile skillset and adaptability. This position is part of the Weekend Incentive Program. Nurses commit to at least three 12-hour weekend shifts for three out of four weekends in a four-week schedule block. Eligible weekend hours receive a $9.00-per-hour differential, in addition to any applicable shift differential. The position is onsite at Brigham and Women's Faulkner Hospital, with a 36-hour workweek and day shift schedule.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.
- Massachusetts Registered Nurse licensure required.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Evidence of basic analytic thinking necessary to care for a group of patients.
- Ability to demonstrate observational skills and set priorities.
- Ability to adhere to all I.C.A.R.E. standards.

Responsibilities
