About The Position

This is an opportunity for motivated and enthusiastic Registered Nurses or Midwives to pursue a rewarding career in Public Health Nursing. The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust is offering full funding for the BSc Hons/Post Graduate Diploma in Specialist Community Public Health Nursing (SCPHN) (Health Visitor) starting September 2026, in partnership with the University of Wolverhampton. The role involves gaining essential skills, knowledge, and hands-on experience in public health to reduce health inequalities and improve the lives of children and families in Wolverhampton.

Requirements

• A motivated and enthusiastic Registered Nurse or Midwife passionate about child and family health.
• Excellent teamwork and communication skills, enabling collaboration within the Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust.
• Commitment to training, learning, and making a lasting impact on community health.
• A valid driver’s license and daily access to a car for travel within Wolverhampton.

Responsibilities

• Engage in training to complete the BSc (Hons) Degree/Postgraduate Diploma in Specialist Community Public Health (SCPHN – Health Visiting).
• Balance 50% theoretical learning with 50% hands-on practical experience in community health settings.
• Work within a multidisciplinary team, liaising with Health Visitors, Public Health Associates, Administration Officers, patients, carers, and other professionals.
• Carry out clinical duties, supporting families and delivering essential public health services.
• Gain exposure to mandated Health Visitor contacts, ensuring seamless progression to the Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) SCPHN training in Health Visiting.
