About The Position

We are currently seeking a Staff Nurse to join our Surgical Admissions unit. This position is Casual, (varied shifts/ pay period), 8-hour shifts, day and evening rotating shifts. The Surgical Admissions unit is part of the Surgical Services department providing preprocedure, post anesthesia phase II recovery and follow up nursing care to all ages having surgical and special procedures. Annually, 15,300 patients are admitted and discharged each year and staff perform minor procedures to 550 patients. Note: If you are currently in a benefit earning position and apply for this casual position you will be decreasing your current hours to casual with no benefits. Casual nurses are nurses who have no regular appointed scheduled hours (no assigned FTE). Nurses may not have a casual position and a regularly scheduled position within the same facility. Casual nurses must make themselves available to work a minimum of two (2) open 8-hour minimum length or the equivalent number of hours per four (4)-week scheduling period at straight time, a minimum of one shift must be a weekend shift. Casual nurses must also make themselves available to work two (2) of the following holiday shifts per calendar year: New Year's Day, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day. Holiday shifts must be full eight or twelve hour shifts. A minimum of one of the holidays must be a winter holiday (Thanksgiving, Christmas or New Year's).

Requirements

  • 2 years of surgical admissions RN experience
  • ACLS upon hire
  • PALS within 6 months
  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing
  • Possession of a valid license as a Registered Nurse issued by the State of Minnesota

Nice To Haves

  • Certification in area of clinical specialty
  • BSN Preferred. Bachelor of Nursing degree is strongly encouraged. Advancement in academic education will be discussed as part of individual professional development during the annual performance review.
