About The Position

Hatch is hiring a Staff Mobile Engineer to lead engineering development for its iOS and Android apps, which support millions of devices. This role is open to candidates across the U.S. and Canada and is remote-friendly; candidates should be available during PST/PDT hours. The position reports to the Director of Mobile Engineering. The engineer will lead feature development, set technical direction, mentor engineers, and partner closely with Product and other functions. Hatch expects this person to ramp up quickly, use AI fluently in day-to-day development, and contribute broadly across mobile systems. The role includes delivering production code, improving reliability and app engagement, debugging cross-platform issues involving mobile, firmware, and backend systems, and shaping architecture and strategy across the mobile organization. During the first 90 days, the engineer will review the codebase, identify near-term technical improvements, and ship meaningful code. Over the first six months, they will lead feature delivery and technical improvements, develop a broad understanding of the mobile platform, contribute architectural proposals, mentor engineers, collaborate with stakeholders, and encourage AI-assisted development practices. Over the first year, they will help shape mobile strategy and roadmaps and define standards for evaluating and implementing AI practices.
