Staff, Mapping Software Engineer

Lucid Motors•Newark, NJ

About The Position

Lucid’s GeoAI team is building fleet-powered mapping infrastructure that learns from vehicle observations and automatically generates, validates, and updates map content. The Staff Mapping Engineer will lead development of large-scale mapping systems that use data from engineering fleets, FOT programs, and customer vehicles to create and maintain production-quality map assets. The role defines architectures and algorithms that transform vehicle miles into lane-level maps, road graphs, localization maps, map change detections, and spatial intelligence products for Navigation, ADAS, and Autonomous Driving. The position requires expertise in mapping, large-scale optimization, SLAM, sensor fusion, and cloud-scale data processing. It involves developing fleet-scale mapping and map-fusion systems; automating HD map generation, validation, and maintenance; applying AI to mapping; and designing and operating production-scale cloud mapping platforms. The engineer will also establish engineering and operational practices, mentor engineers, and collaborate across teams.
