Staff Hardware Design Engineer – Cellular Base Stations
About The Position
InnoPhase Inc., DBA GreenWave Radios™, is a leader in Open RAN digital radios, developing solutions powered by the Hermes64 RF SoC to improve network energy efficiency and reduce operational expenses. The company is headquartered in San Diego, California, and has over 100 engineers across four global R&D facilities, holding more than 120 global patents. This role involves designing and developing PCB circuitry for next-generation, high-performance cellular base stations. The engineer will work on board-level hardware integrating custom silicon, covering digital processing, high-speed SerDes, power management, and RF transmission/reception, aiming for high-reliability and power-efficient solutions. It is a hands-on technical role with increasing ownership, requiring execution of PCB design from schematic to production, and collaboration with analog, digital, and RF domain experts.
Requirements
- 8+ years of relevant experience designing mixed signal circuits in a hardware engineering role
- BSc in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience/training
- Proven track record in PCB schematic and layout design, ideally in high-speed and RF/analog applications
- Hands-on experience with Cadence Allegro
- Solid grasp of signal integrity, power integrity, and thermal management principles
- Working knowledge of PCB fabrication processes and DFM best practices
- Strong foundation in both analog and digital electronics
- Experience mentoring junior designers and sharing technical knowledge across the team
- Excellent cross-functional collaboration and communication skills — you'll work daily with experts across multiple domains

- Exposure to AI-assisted EDA tools for schematic capture, layout optimization, or DFM checking

- General comfort adopting AI-augmented workflows to boost design productivity — this is a plus, not a requirement, for the right hands-on RF/analog expert
Responsibilities
- Execute PCB development from concept through production, with increasing ownership over design decisions
- Design and implement RF, analog, digital, and power circuits for high-performance base station products
- Collaborate with domain experts on floor planning and PCB constraints for seamless integration
- Own schematic capture and PCB layout, and participate in design reviews
- Optimize PCB stack-up for performance and cost
- Develop and maintain schematic symbols and component footprints
- Contribute to and improve the PCB development flow for better quality and productivity
- Participate in PCB vendor engagement and DFM reviews
- Drive board bring-up and debug, escalating complex issues with structured analysis
