Staff Frontend Engineer, Arbor

LinktreeLos Angeles, CA
$193,000 - $227,000Hybrid

About The Position

We're looking for a Staff Software Engineer to join Linktree's platform engineering team and work on Arbor, our design system. Arbor owns the shared components, patterns, and frontend infrastructure that every product at Linktree is built on. In this role you'll own the technical direction of the platform, its architecture, component APIs, design-system practices, and delivery standards, and you'll be a person other teams look to for how frontend engineering should be done at Linktree. You'll split your time between hands-on frontend craft and partnering with Product, Design, and Engineering leaders on where the platform goes next. You'll operate with real autonomy and act as a key voice in how Linktree's frontend evolves to support fast, reliable product development at scale.

Requirements

  • Strong cross-functional communication and influence skills; a proven ability to drive alignment and adoption across teams without formal authority.
  • 8+ years of professional frontend engineering experience, including significant time operating at a Staff or equivalent level.
  • Deep expertise in modern frontend frameworks (e.g., React) and a proven track record building and scaling shared component or design systems used by multiple teams.
  • Hands-on fluency with the building blocks of a design system: component API design, design tokens and theming, versioning, and accessibility.
  • A track record of mentoring senior engineers and raising the technical bar of the people around you.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain the shared component library and design system, component APIs, design tokens, theming, accessibility, and documentation, that product teams across Linktree build on.
  • Set the technical bar for frontend architecture, code quality, and delivery practices, and codify the patterns other teams adopt.
  • Define and evolve Arbor's frontend platform strategy in close partnership with Product, Design, and Engineering leaders.
  • Drive the design system's contribution and adoption model: versioning, breaking-change management, deprecation, and getting teams onto shared foundations.
  • Lead complex, cross-team technical initiatives end to end, from problem definition through rollout, balancing shipping speed against long-term platform health.
  • Mentor and grow engineers across the organisation, raising overall craft and technical judgment.

Benefits

  • An annual wellbeing allowance to use on things like (but not limited to) fitness memberships, development courses, childcare, travel, charitable donations, pet insurance, home office set-up - the choice is yours!
  • 100% coverage (and 80% for your dependents) of your monthly premiums for medical, dental, vision, disability and life insurance for US-based employees.
  • Employer contribution towards your retirement.
  • Generous time off for vacation, holidays, parental leave, volunteer time, and other categories.
  • Employee stock option program - we want each and every employee to share in the company’s success.
