About The Position

Linktree is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join their platform engineering team and focus on Arbor, their design system. Arbor is responsible for the shared components, patterns, and frontend infrastructure used across all Linktree products. In this role, the engineer will own the technical direction, architecture, component APIs, design-system practices, and delivery standards for the platform. They will be a key resource for frontend engineering best practices at Linktree, balancing hands-on development with strategic partnerships with Product, Design, and Engineering leaders to guide the platform's future. The position offers significant autonomy and a chance to influence the evolution of Linktree's frontend to support scalable product development.

Requirements

  • Strong cross-functional communication and influence skills; a proven ability to drive alignment and adoption across teams without formal authority.
  • 8+ years of professional frontend engineering experience, including significant time operating at a Staff or equivalent level.
  • Deep expertise in modern frontend frameworks (e.g., React) and a proven track record building and scaling shared component or design systems used by multiple teams.
  • Hands-on fluency with the building blocks of a design system: component API design, design tokens and theming, versioning, and accessibility.
  • A track record of mentoring senior engineers and raising the technical bar of the people around you.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain the shared component library and design system, including component APIs, design tokens, theming, accessibility, and documentation.
  • Set the technical bar for frontend architecture, code quality, and delivery practices, and codify patterns for other teams.
  • Define and evolve Arbor's frontend platform strategy in partnership with Product, Design, and Engineering leaders.
  • Drive the design system's contribution and adoption model, including versioning, breaking-change management, deprecation, and migration of teams.
  • Lead complex, cross-team technical initiatives from problem definition to rollout, balancing shipping speed with long-term platform health.
  • Mentor and grow engineers across the organization, improving overall craft and technical judgment.
