About The Position

Hims & Hers is seeking a Staff Forward Deployed Engineer passionate about leveraging AI to transform how business teams operate. This role involves embedding with teams to understand their workflows, identify areas where AI can add significant value, and build AI-powered solutions directly in production. The goal is to make teams faster and more effective by creating and shipping AI-powered workflows. This is a hands-on engineering role focused on the intersection of AI platforms and business domains, with a focus on shipping production systems and developing reusable capabilities for the entire company.

Requirements

8+ years of professional software engineering experience.
Strong hands-on coding skills and experience delivering production systems across complex codebases.
Strong Python, plus backend or fullstack depth in one or more of: Node.js, Kotlin, Java, Go, React, TypeScript, or mobile.
Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS, Docker, Kubernetes), CI/CD workflows, and SQL.
Working knowledge of LLMs and agentic patterns: prompt engineering, tool use, RAG and retrieval, context management, evaluation and observability, and agent orchestration with frameworks like MCP, LangChain, or similar.
Ability to get productive quickly in unfamiliar codebases and domains.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to partner across technical and business teams, translate between them, and produce actionable documentation.

Nice To Haves

Experience extracting structure from unstructured data (transcripts, documents, conversations) with LLMs.
Familiarity with workflow automation tooling (n8n, Zapier, Temporal, or similar).
Familiarity with process mining or workflow analysis (event logs, process discovery, BPMN).

Responsibilities

Embed with a team to understand their day-to-day operations and workflows.
Map current workflows to identify bottlenecks, rework, and manual effort.
Identify and prioritize opportunities where AI can create the most value and improve outcomes.
Build and ship AI-powered workflows in production, working hands-on with the team and the AI platform.
Develop proven solutions into reusable capabilities for the organization.
Own the outcome by measuring success through business results such as revenue generated, costs saved, cycle time reduction, and elimination of manual work.
