We are currently hiring two Staff Field Construction Coordinators. These positions are responsible for providing contract management, coordination and inspection expertise for construction and maintenance projects.

Requirements

  • Requires a bachelor’s degree in construction technology or other related field or equivalent experience.
  • Typically five or more years in utility line or service design project management or related field.
  • Intermediate knowledge of construction practices and applicable codes and standards, particularly the National Electric Safety Code (NESC) that provides for the safe installation, operation and maintenance of electric power and communication utility systems
  • Intermediate knowledge of the public utility commission (PUC) requirements for construction and service work
  • Intermediate knowledge of federal and state safety laws, regulations and requirements and company safety practices and policies and program and reporting requirements
  • Intermediate knowledge of the union agreement and labor laws
  • Intermediate computer skills using Microsoft Office and asset management software (Maximo)

Responsibilities

  • Supervises and inspects contractors’ installation of underground conduit systems for medium to large or complex projects; inspects and approves complex customer trench and conduits, ensuring properly installed and where easements/PUEs are lawful; coordinates meetings and works with Design Project Managers (DPMs), line operations, crew coordination and other PGE departments and adjacent utilities on redesigns; conducts job walks with PGE staff to collect information and assess medium to large or complex projects.
  • Serves as the main point of contact for electrical excavation contractors throughout a medium to large or complex construction project.
  • Manages PGE processes through the completion of assigned workorder system; sets up and/or attends preconstruction meetings with developers and builders to outline PGE requirements ensuring their project stays on track.
  • Communicates and works with municipalities and adjacent utilities on medium to large or complex projects to identify and resolve issues.
  • Independently manages and resolves complex customer complaints using strong technical knowledge and established best practices.
  • Provides guidance to less experienced colleagues and works with line crews and other partners to address multifaceted or recurring issues.
  • Ensures the use of safe working practices in accordance with company safety culture, safety programs and policies and relevant state and federal laws, regulations and requirements.
  • Reports OSHA violations if a violation is seen and not remedied on a customer jobsite.
