Requirements

  • Demonstrated advanced expertise in multiple software engineering disciplines and ability to apply that expertise to solve complex, cross-domain problems.
  • Proven record of architecting and delivering scalable, resilient systems that align with long-term business and product strategy.
  • Strong systems thinking - able to connect architectural decisions to operational, security, and organizational outcomes.
  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to simplify complex ideas, influence decisions, and align diverse stakeholders.
  • Deep understanding of software architecture principles, modern cloud infrastructure, and secure design practices.
  • Demonstrated curiosity and commitment to continuous learning - proactive exploration of emerging technologies and assessing their business relevance.
  • Skilled at mentoring and elevating engineering talent through constructive feedback, design guidance, pair programming, and modeling technical excellence.
  • Balances technical rigor with pragmatic judgment, ensuring solutions are both robust and cost-effective.
  • Operates with autonomy and accountability, influencing technical direction across multiple teams and driving alignment toward shared outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Solve complex, mission-critical problems that require cross-team collaboration and deep technical evaluation.
  • Act as a trusted technical consultant and architect for multiple teams within an industry group.
  • Partner with product and business stakeholders to align technical direction with measurable outcomes and company goals.
  • Explore and evaluate emerging technologies, identifying opportunities to leverage new tools, frameworks, or paradigms that create business value.
  • Lead technical design, planning, and execution for large-scale initiatives that span multiple systems in their product domains.
  • Assess and execute trade-off decisions between performance, scalability, maintainability, and cost.
  • Define and deliver technical stories that improve the integrity, performance, and long-term sustainability of shared systems.
  • Conduct architectural reviews with the broader Staff group and proactively identify areas for simplification, modernization, and risk reduction.
  • Mentor and develop engineers through design reviews, pair programming, and technical coaching.
  • Champion consistency in design patterns, operational excellence, and engineering best practices across teams.
  • Contribute to a culture of continuous learning and innovation — modeling curiosity, experimentation, and collaboration.
