About The Position

Shield AI is hiring a Staff Power Systems Engineer to lead the Ranger aircraft power system from concept through production. The role involves developing and integrating high-power systems designed for performance and reliability in harsh environments, enabling an uninterruptible power system, and driving execution of the top-level architecture. The engineer will lead and mentor multiple engineers, provide design reviews and program execution leadership, and help build the team in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

Power system design experience on a large vehicle, aircraft, or equivalent power system such as a rocket, satellite, or submarine.
10+ years of relevant experience.
Experience delivering power system and power electronic products to market.
Proficiency with electrical engineering development tools, simulation, and test equipment.
Strong technical fundamentals and analytical skills.

Responsibilities

Define and execute the vision of the Ranger power system from concept to production.
Design, develop, and integrate high-power systems tailored for performance and reliability in harsh environments.
Enable an uninterruptible power system.
Conduct make-versus-buy trade studies; select, test, and integrate modules for aircraft use.
Verify system performance and reliability through rigorous testing and verification.
Debug complex electrical design, environmental, manufacturing, and other problems.
Help build the team and lead multiple engineers dedicated to power system design.
Drive a cross-functional team to execute the top-level architecture.
Provide mentorship, design reviews, and program execution leadership.
