About The Position

The Staff Engineer, Electrical Design - Power develops electrical systems and circuits for a range of applications. The role researches system concepts, prepares plans, and documents designs in schematics and system specifications. It also involves testing, simulation, validation, and qualification, making adjustments as needed, and providing support through manufacturing. The position works with cross-functional teams, including designers, customers, manufacturing engineering, and project leadership, to deliver robust, high-quality products. Designs are improved based on feedback from manufacturing, test, supply chain, reliability, industrial design, and simulation reviews. The engineer works with guidance from Senior Staff and Principal-level engineers while providing technical leadership and direction to a global engineering team. The role may serve as a recognized technical expert in one or more areas.

  • Experience designing single- or multi-phase DC/DC converters, point-of-load converters, LDOs, MOSFETs, magnetics, hot-swap circuitry/controllers, load switches, and current-sense circuits and amplifiers.
  • Experience designing power systems for networking, compute, or storage products.
  • Experience with high-current, low-voltage power subsystems for CPUs, GPUs, ASICs, SoCs, and FPGAs.
  • Experience with PCB stack-ups, power planes, and tools for simulating voltage gradients.
  • Familiarity with schematic capture and CAD layout tools or equivalent.
  • Proficiency with circuit simulation tools such as SIMPLIS, PSPICE, and LTSPICE, or equivalent tools.
  • Experience with power integrity tools such as PowerDC or equivalent, and board-level evaluation.
  • Experience designing and troubleshooting power-management interfaces such as PMBus, AVS, SVID, and SVI2/3.
  • Experience defining specifications and validating power connectors, cable assemblies, and fuses.
  • Familiarity with the NPI hardware design and deployment cycle.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present effectively to various audiences.
  • Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience; educational requirements may vary by geography.
