We are seeking an Ecoengineer to join our growing team and play a key role in delivering innovative habitat restoration design projects across rivers, wetlands, and estuarine systems. This position is hybrid and must be local to Sacramento, CA. In this role, you will support the design of restoration-focused projects, contributing across the full project lifecycle, from feasibility and concept development through final design and construction support. Your work will integrate engineering design with geomorphic and hydraulic understanding to deliver practical, implementable solutions. Requirements

  • 3–5 years of applied design and drafting experience
  • Proficiency with AutoDesk Civil 3D and site grading design
  • Experience supporting the full project lifecycle, from feasibility and concept design through 100% design
  • Experience preparing construction documents, including drawings, specifications, and cost estimates
  • Familiarity with geographic coordinate systems
  • Experience developing surfaces from point clouds and topographic survey data
  • Experience providing construction observation and support
  • Strong communication skills and ability to interface effectively with clients and stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to manage one’s time and work within a set scope, schedule, and budget

Nice To Haves

  • Licensed California State professional civil engineer (or ability to obtain license via reciprocity) or an Engineer-in-Training status
  • A bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, environmental engineering, water resources, hydrology, or fluvial geomorphology (or similar)
  • Experience with aquatic habitat restoration design, including streams, rivers, floodplains, wetlands, estuaries, and salmonid habitat
  • Familiarity with open channel hydraulics and hydraulic modeling tools (e.g., HEC-RAS or similar)
  • Understanding of geomorphic and sediment transport processes
  • Experience working in GIS and performing geographic transformations
  • Experience with field data collection, analysis, and technical reporting supporting engineering design

Responsibilities

  • Develop and refine site grading and restoration designs using AutoDesk Civil 3D and related tools
  • Produce construction-ready deliverables, including plans, specifications, cost estimates, and basis of design reports
  • Support and contribute to hydrologic, hydraulic, and geomorphic analyses and modeling to inform design development
  • Develop surfaces and terrain models from high-resolution Point Cloud and conventional topographic survey data
  • Participate in field efforts, including site reconnaissance, topographic and bathymetric surveys, and data collection to inform design
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop restoration solutions in riverine, wetland, and estuarine environments
  • Provide construction-phase support, including responding to information requests, reviewing submittals, and conducting site visits
  • Communicate technical concepts and design intent clearly to clients, stakeholders, and project teams
  • Contribute to proposal development and technical documentation, supporting the continued growth of the Eco Engineering department
