About The Position

As Staff Development Manager, you will oversee the training and development of all DSDHH positions statewide, including the upkeep of a staff development portfolio system that tracks continuing education, training, and conference opportunities. You will also be responsible for comprehensive training for entire DSDHH teams and bringing in expert trainers. You will lead our onboarding process for new employees and serve as DSDHH's outreach arm of the division. In this key leadership role, you will design, develop, and deliver high quality training and professional development programs for both division employees and external partners. You will create engaging training content, coordinate workshops, seminars, webinars, and conferences, and identify which staff should attend learning opportunities. You will also build a network of skilled trainers and subject matter experts to deliver presentations to employees at DSDHH staff development programs. As Staff Development Manager, you will help set the tone for every new employee’s experience at DSDHH. You will collaborate closely with managers, supervisors, and coordinators to strengthen onboarding processes and ensure each new hire receives a welcoming, well organized introduction to the division. Your work will contribute directly to improved staff retention, successful recruitment, and a supportive culture where employees feel supported and valued. You will also lead and support DSDHH’s Outreach and Education Coordinator team. In this capacity, you will ensure they remain actively engaged with Deaf, Hard of Hearing, and DeafBlind communities across North Carolina. This includes overseeing the creation and maintenance of marketing materials, guiding the team’s use of social media and digital platforms, and supporting production of accessible content such as American Sign Language videos. Through your leadership, creativity, and commitment to professional growth, you will help the Division of Services for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing foster a happy, healthy, and high performing workplace.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in social work, adult education, public administration, or a related human service field from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of experience as a trainer or in training administration; two years must have been in the type of facility being served; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, adult education, public administration, or a related human service field from an appropriately accredited institution and four years of progressively responsible experience as a trainer or in training administration; two years must be in the type of facility being serve.
