Staff Developer Experience (DX) Engineer
About The Position
Deepgram is the leading platform underpinning the emerging trillion-dollar Voice AI economy, providing real-time APIs for speech-to-text (STT), text-to-speech (TTS), and building production-grade voice agents at scale. The role involves working with real-time, streaming SDKs for STT, TTS, and Voice Agents across multiple languages and tech stacks (Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, Go, Rust, .NET, and Java). The SDKs are open-source on GitHub and generated from a shared API specification. The role also encompasses a CLI, documentation, and starter repositories for partner stacks like Pipecat, LiveKit, AWS, and Twilio.
Requirements
- A track record of owning developer-facing tooling across multiple languages, including libraries, SDK generators, templates, and release automation.
- Experience using AI as real infrastructure in workflows, including agentic pipelines, custom tooling, and generators.
- An instinct to build reusable systems that outlive the initial developer.
- First-principles reasoning about systems, including SDKs, code generation, and partner ecosystems.
- Production ownership instincts, treating production SDKs with a focus on observability, incident response, backward-compatibility, and reducing toil.
- Ability to go deep on developer experience and tooling, and also pick up developer content, demos, or community work.
- Thinking in terms of developer outcomes, connecting SDK and docs work to product activation and retention.

- Experience with emerging standards like llms.txt.
Responsibilities
- Own the direction of developer experience, setting the DX roadmap and acting as the technical lead.
- Act as the technical point of contact for DX for Product, Engineering, and Partnerships.
- Own the SDK code-generation architecture, designing and maintaining the system that produces SDKs.
- Set the standard for developer experience across all SDKs, including quality bar, cross-language parity, versioning, release discipline, and observability.
- Raise the level of engineers working on the SDK surface through code review, patterns, documentation, and pairing.
- Identify and fix systemic causes of friction for developers.
- Build tooling for the team, including code-generation pipelines, CI, supporting infrastructure, and starter repositories.
- Design documentation, automation, and architecture for longevity and scalability.
- Serve as the technical voice to Product, Engineering, Marketing, and Partnerships, providing input for decision-making.
- Ensure developers can move from 'is this possible?' to 'this is in production' with zero friction.
