About The Position

Upstart's Servicing Analytics team partners closely with Operations, Product, and leadership teams to improve borrower outcomes and operational effectiveness across the servicing lifecycle. The team combines deep business understanding with analytical rigor to drive strategy, operational insights, experimentation, and scalable reporting solutions. As a Staff Data Analyst at Upstart, you will serve as a strategic analytics partner to Operations and Product leaders, helping shape servicing strategy through data-driven insights and scalable reporting solutions. You will work across ambiguous and evolving business problems, independently identifying opportunities, diagnosing trends, and influencing decision-making with clear analytical recommendations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Analytics, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field (or its equivalent) plus 6 years of experience
  • 8+ years of experience in data analytics, business analytics, or a related analytical function supporting business operations or product organizations
  • Advanced SQL experience, including building complex queries and transforming large datasets for analytical and reporting use cases
  • Experience building dashboards and automated reporting solutions using BI tools such as Tableau, Looker, or similar platforms
  • Experience conducting root cause analysis, defining performance metrics, and delivering data-driven recommendations to cross-functional stakeholders

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of consumer lending, servicing operations, collections, or other financial services domains
  • Experience supporting product experiments, operational experimentation, or A/B testing initiatives
  • Ability to navigate ambiguous business problems and independently prioritize analytical opportunities with measurable impact
  • Skilled in communicating analytical insights and business trends to senior leadership audiences
  • Experience leveraging AI-enabled tools or automation techniques to improve reporting workflows, analysis, or operational efficiency

Responsibilities

  • Partner with Operations, Product Management, and leadership teams to define success metrics, evaluate operational performance, and influence servicing strategy through data-driven insights
  • Build and maintain scalable dashboards, reporting frameworks, and business review materials that enable self-service analytics across Operations teams
  • Diagnose changes in borrower and operational performance metrics by conducting root cause analyses and identifying actionable recommendations
  • Lead analytical support for product experiments and operational initiatives, including measurement design, performance evaluation, and strategic recommendations
  • Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and borrower outcomes by connecting insights across servicing workflows, agent performance, and payment behaviors
  • Translate complex analytical findings into clear business narratives for senior stakeholders, including regular presentations to leadership audiences
