Under the direction of the Director of Counseling, this position works within Wellness Services to provide regular consultation and effective psychological interventions with Northwest students. The role facilitates the optimal functioning and wellness of students by providing individual and group counseling. It requires effectiveness in counseling people from diverse backgrounds and identities and contributing to a work environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with others regardless of race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity or religious beliefs. The position works closely with stakeholders across campus, ensures student concerns are addressed appropriately through psychological assessment and referrals, and maintains documentation in Point and Click/Electronic Health Record. The role also provides crisis intervention services during and after office hours, participates in proactive outreach through programming, workshops, and presentations, and stays knowledgeable about current trends in counseling through continuing education.
