About The Position

Lake Region Healthcare in Fergus Falls is seeking a Staff Chaplain to assist our Spiritual Care team in providing care for patients, their loved ones, and staff. Reporting to the Manager of Spiritual Care, this role provides spiritual care in inpatient, outpatient, and residential settings at our hospital, cancer center, and assisted living facilities. The chaplain will serve as a liaison to local faith communities and coordinate Advanced Care Planning initiatives with community and regional agencies. Join our Spiritual Care department where we focus on tending to the spiritual side of those in our care. We strive to meet each individual where they are spiritually and help them connect with their spiritual strengths. Requirements

  • Demonstrated theological, emotional and psychological understanding and application of chaplaincy, worship, professional ethics, and pastoral counseling in a healthcare setting.
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with local clergy and faith‐based partners.
  • Proven ability to build and sustain collaborative relationships with hospital staff, medical staff, patients and families across clinical units (or church leaders, parishioners, community in pastoral setting).
  • Ability to adapt to the unique spiritual, emotional and ethical needs of specific nursing and clinical units (e.g., acute care, oncology, assisted living).
  • Knowledge of the physician/patient relationship in healthcare settings and awareness of legal and ethical implications.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Basic computer proficiency.
  • Successful completion of pre‐employment health screening.
  • Ability to attend in‐person in required.

Nice To Haves

  • A Master of Divinity (or equivalent advanced degree in pastoral theology) is preferred.
  • A minimum of one (1) unit of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) is preferred.
  • The Manager of Spiritual Care (who is a CPE educator) may assist with planning toward completion.

Responsibilities
