About The Position
Nebraska Medicine is seeking a Casual Chaplain to provide coverage across all shifts on an as-needed basis. The role primarily fills in for team members during paid time off, leaves of absence, and other scheduling needs while supporting the spiritual and emotional care needs of patients, families, and staff. As a member of the healthcare team, the chaplain also provides spiritual and ethical consultation to medical staff and coordinates acute bereavement services. The role facilitates access for community clergy to visit parishioners or congregants while observing patient confidentiality.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree required.

- Chaplain experience in a medical center environment.
- Graduate-level theological degree.
- Training in bereavement and ethics.
- Experience providing spiritual support in a multi-faith environment.
- Denominational endorsement.
- Certification or eligibility for certification by a national pastoral care organization.
- Clinical Pastoral Education.
Responsibilities
- Provide supportive care to meet the spiritual and emotional needs of patients, families, and staff as a member of the healthcare team.
- Provide spiritual and ethical consultation to medical staff to enhance patient care.
- Coordinate Acute Bereavement Services.
- Facilitate community clergy access to parishioners or congregants within the limits of patient confidentiality.
- Provide coverage across all shifts as needed, including filling in during team members’ PTO, leaves of absence, and other scheduling needs.
