About The Position

Lyten is seeking an experienced Staff Battery Engineer specializing in pouch and prismatic cell design to lead our cell development initiatives. The ideal candidate will drive product design from concept through pilot production and manufacturing scale-up. This role involves performing design, optimization, and validation of high-energy pouch cells and prismatic cells, driving decision-making in material selection, electrode design, stack configuration, N/P balancing, and safety trade-offs. The engineer will analyze large multi-variant experiment datasets with advanced tools to derive design-performance correlations, lead cell design and development projects from concept to production-ready products, and drive design for manufacturability (DFM) and design for assembly (DFA) initiatives. Collaboration with product and business teams to translate product requirements into battery performance targets and qualification plans, and close work with manufacturing and automation teams to ensure scalability, yield, and transfer to pilot/production lines are also key aspects. The role requires writing technical reports, modeling insights, and decision frameworks for executive and customer visibility, as well as interfacing with cross-functional teams including Materials, Process, Quality, and Manufacturing. Mentoring junior engineers and providing technical leadership across projects is expected.
