About The Position

Community Legal Aid (CLA) seeks an attorney to join its Family Law Unit in the Worcester office. This role involves assisting clients with various family law matters such as divorce, child support, visitation, and custody. A significant portion of clients are expected to be survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and other crimes. The attorney will have substantial client interaction, manage an active caseload, and continue to accept new cases. Additionally, the position includes community outreach and education, collaboration with community partners like domestic violence service providers, and potential grant-reporting activities.

Requirements

  • Recent law school graduate or experienced attorney.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated dedication to social justice.
  • Commitment to working with low-income communities.
  • Ability to work in the assigned office at least three days per week.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior family law experience, particularly with survivors of domestic violence.
  • Fluency in Spanish.
  • Rising third-year law students are eligible, but preference given to a licensed attorney who can start sooner.
