About The Position

Chapel of the Chimes Funeral Home, Memorial Park, and Crematory is looking for a Part-Time Staff Associate to join their team in Hayward, California. This role offers a passionate and purpose-filled work environment where associates assist funeral directors with events, maintain facility appearance, and provide compassionate and professional information to client families. This position is ideal for mortuary students or candidates pursuing mortuary studies. The work is foundational to supporting, guiding, and directing client families through their grief. The company provides strong local, regional, and home-office support to its staff.

Requirements

1 year of experience in customer service preferred
Experience handling difficult situations
Must be available to work weekdays and/or weekends. Weekend requirement includes four (4) weekend days per month.
Must be available for evenings during the weekday and or weekend.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with funeral directors with events held on-site, including services and arrangement conferences
Establish and maintain strong business relationships with families
Always maintain reverence and respect for the deceased
Assist in preparing the memorial area for the family two hours before the services start
Ensure that flowers and other memorabilia are returned to the family after services
Answer customer inquiries professionally, either by phone or in person
Ensure that service vehicles are presentable prior to the service
Assist is cleaning the memorial area after the conclusion of a service and preparing for the next ceremony being held in that area
Assist the funeral director/arranger in charge in directing the movement of the casket, urn, immediate family members, pallbearers, and guests.
Conduct on-site and off-site services as dictated by the business schedule
