About The Position

PermitFlow is seeking a Staff Analytics Engineer to own its analytics infrastructure, solve complex business problems, and help define how the company uses AI to make data more accessible and actionable. This is a high-impact, hands-on individual contributor role combining analytics engineering, strategic analysis, and technical leadership. The role partners with leaders across Engineering, Product, Operations, and Customer Success to turn data into better decisions and help build an AI-native data function.

Requirements

• Extensive experience in analytics engineering, data analytics, or BI, with a track record of owning complex, high-impact initiatives.
• Expert SQL skills and deep, hands-on experience with dbt, data modeling, and modern cloud data warehouses.
• Strong Python skills and experience building scalable data pipelines and analytics infrastructure.
• Practical experience using LLMs or AI-powered tools to improve analytics workflows and data accessibility.
• A full-stack data mindset combining engineering fundamentals, analytical depth, and business intuition.
• Proven ability to independently lead ambiguous, cross-functional projects and influence technical and business decisions.
• Strong communication skills, a builder’s mindset, and enthusiasm for shaping an evolving, AI-native data function.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and scale the data warehouse, dbt models, pipelines, and core metrics.
• Translate complex business questions into actionable insights, predictive models, and strategic recommendations.
• Use LLMs to automate routine analysis, enable self-service insights, and improve how teams interact with data.
• Establish best practices for data modeling, quality, testing, and governance as the infrastructure scales.
• Work cross-functionally to define KPIs, identify opportunities, and influence critical business decisions.
• Help define the long-term data strategy, tooling, and technical standards as PermitFlow grows.
