We are seeking a skilled and experienced Staff Air Quality Engineer or Scientist to join our expanding Air Quality Methane Team in Lakewood, Colorado. This full-time position offers a dynamic range of responsibilities, requiring adaptability and a broad skill set. It presents an exciting opportunity to contribute technical expertise to complex air quality projects across industries such as oil & gas, mining, chemical, energy, and other industrial sectors—both within Colorado and our North American region. Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical or Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or closely related scientific field
  • Zero to 2 years of experience solving environmental problems, calculating air quality emissions, and interpreting permits or environmental regulations
  • Technical writing skills, and experience writing comprehensive technical reports
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite software and PDF software
  • Ability to visit industrial and manufacturing facilities

  • Previous experience in the areas of air quality permitting and compliance consulting is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Accurately and efficiently complete tasks in support of air quality-related frameworks, compliance reporting, permitting, and stakeholder communication.
  • Provide technical understanding related to projects including regulatory requirements, compliance obligations, and voluntary frameworks.
  • Interact with project team members to steward preparation and submittal of client deliverables such as greenhouse gas emissions reports and air quality permits.
  • Understand and utilize air quality reporting and software tools such as ProMax.
  • Assist clients with compliance and voluntary air quality reporting programs.
  • Proactively work with SLR project managers to maintain a sustainable workload.
  • Short-duration travel to visit project locations and attend meetings.
  • With appropriate experience, a successful candidate will be considered for work as a representative of SLR, temporarily working in client office.
