TRC is seeking a motivated entry-level Air Quality Engineer, Scientist, or Meteorologist with 0-2 years of experience in air emission compliance and permitting. This role will focus on air permitting and air emission regulatory compliance for industrial clients in the Southeast. The position may be based in Raleigh-NC, Cary-NC, or Greenville-SC offices with flexible working arrangements.

Requirements

  • 0-2 years of air quality experience.
  • Chemical, Environmental Engineering, or Meteorology Degree.
  • Understanding of Federal and State air quality regulations and policies and emerging regulatory programs.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Excellent writing skills.
  • Data management and interpretation skills.
  • Expertise in spreadsheets and word processing.
  • Ability to manage multiple clients and tasks concurrently.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working on air quality regulatory requirements in a consulting, industrial, or agency setting in new source permitting (new source review, PSD and non-attainment), air emission control technology reviews, emissions inventory and Title V permitting, and regulatory compliance evaluations.
  • Experience working with Microsoft Access programs.
  • Excellent working relationships with State and Federal agency personnel.
  • Chemicals and Manufacturing air permitting experience.
  • Participation in environmental organizations.
  • Ability to obtain Professional Engineering License in SC, NC or other southeast state.
  • Outstanding listening skills to capture pertinent information.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to anticipate clients' needs.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct technical work related to air permitting and air emission regulatory compliance.
  • Complete emission calculations.
  • Prepare semi-annual and annual compliance reports.
  • Develop new source review (NSR) permit applications.
  • Handle federal operating permits (Title V).
  • Ensure state and federal permit compliance.
  • Manage NSPS and MACT compliance for various industries.
  • Manage key technical aspects or project tasks as experience grows.
  • Manage certain types of projects as experience grows.
