About The Position

The Staff Accountant supports the financial operations of a growing company in the fitness equipment manufacturing industry. The role contributes across multiple areas of accounting, including general ledger accounting, reconciliations, month-end close, financial reporting, fixed assets, sales tax, and audit support. The accountant works with an experienced finance team and partners with customers, vendors, and internal teams, while contributing to process improvements and special projects. This is a contract-to-hire position based fully onsite in Poway, California.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, economics, or another related field of study.
At least 2 years of accounting experience.
Strong experience with general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and month-end close.
Experience preparing accruals and ensuring accurate expense recognition.
Knowledge of fixed asset accounting, depreciation, and amortization.
Intermediate Excel skills.

Responsibilities

Perform general ledger and balance sheet reconciliations, including cash and credit card accounts.
Prepare month-end journal entries and accruals to support accurate financial reporting.
Manage fixed asset additions and retirements, depreciation, and intangible asset amortization.
Support sales tax registrations, filings, and reconciliations.
Review accounts receivable aging and assist with accounts payable activities as needed.
Respond to audit requests and prepare supporting documentation.
Analyze financial data and contribute to process improvements and accounting best practices.
Partner with customers, vendors, and internal teams to resolve accounting-related matters.
Support special projects and ad hoc accounting analyses.
