Staff Accountant (Cost Accounting & Inventory)

Attune Med SpaStamford, CT
$75,000 - $95,000Hybrid

About The Position

We are seeking a sharp, data-driven, and commercially-minded Staff Accountant to own day-to-day accounting with a specific emphasis on cost accounting, inventory control, and monthly financial statement preparation. This is a high-impact corporate role designed for someone who has lived in a retail or multi-unit environment where inventory is real money on the shelf: injectables, skincare retail lines, medical consumables, and treatment supplies. You will act as the financial anchor for our clinics—connecting our POS system (Zenoti), purchasing, and the general ledger so that COGS, margins, and shrinkage are perfectly accurate and visible by location and by service line. This role is hybrid, requiring a regular on-site presence at our Greenwich and Stamford locations for inventory counts, cycle counts, and month-end close support, with Westport to be added at opening.

Requirements

  • 3–6 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years dedicated to cost or inventory accounting.
  • Proven background in retail, multi-unit consumer brands, healthcare, or medical aesthetics settings.
  • Demonstrated experience preparing full financial statements through an entire close cycle, not just basic AP/AR support.
  • Advanced Excel skills (lookups, pivots, building financial models from raw data exports).
  • Strong reconciliation instincts with a passion for digging into POS, merchant, and payroll data until it ties perfectly.
  • Experience with QuickBooks (or similar GL), Bill.com, and industry POS/EMR systems (Zenoti experience is a massive plus).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is preferred; a CPA or CMA designation is a plus.
  • Willingness to be hands-on in a nimble environment, spanning from high-level margin strategy down to data entry and physical inventory counts.
  • Exceptional discretion, deadline reliability, and clear communication skills with non-finance staff and clinicians.

Nice To Haves

  • Zenoti experience is a massive plus
  • CPA or CMA designation is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Own and execute the full-cycle month-end close process independently, delivering flawless financial statements within 10 business days.
  • Prepare comprehensive monthly financial statement packages (P&L by location, balance sheet, cash flow).
  • Reconcile complex data matrices, including bank accounts, credit cards, merchant processing, and payroll.
  • Manage full-cycle AP processing and vendor relations via Bill.com, alongside AR and third-party financing reconciliations.
  • Track and flag financial variances with clear, strategic explanations rather than just numbers.
  • Support annual tax preparation, 1099 compliance, and any incoming lender or investor reporting requests.
  • Build and maintain a reliable, perpetual inventory accounting system across injectables, luxury retail (e.g., Alastin, Osea), and consumables.
  • Establish and lead a strict inventory cycle count cadence and physical count reconciliation across all locations.
  • Reconcile Zenoti POS usage and sales data to the general ledger, proactively investigating and resolving discrepancies or shrinkage.
  • Establish true product and service costing (injectable cost per unit, consumables per treatment, retail landed cost) to support pricing decisions and our 360 Assessment program.
  • Own and enforce rigorous receiving, transfer, and write-off controls between locations.
  • Partner directly with Clinic Managers to champion ordering discipline, optimal par levels, and strict count compliance.
  • Support the accurate calculation of provider commissions and compensation tied directly to service and retail sales data.
  • Assist the executive team with budgeting, cash forecasting, and the financial setup of new locations (Westport) from day one.
  • Create and institutionalize documented accounting processes so finance operations are standardized and scalable.
