Junior Cost & Inventory Accountant LayerZero Power Systems is seeking a Junior Cost & Inventory Accountant to support the finance and operations teams by maintaining accurate cost, inventory, and production data within Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central. This role is ideal for someone early in their accounting career who enjoys working with data, systems, and cross-functional collaboration. The position plays a key role in ensuring the integrity of inventory records, supporting cost analysis, and contributing to ongoing process improvements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field required
  • 0–2 years of experience in accounting, cost accounting, or inventory management
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • High attention to detail and strong analytical skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively across departments
  • Strong organizational and time management skills

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central or NAV
  • Exposure to manufacturing or inventory-driven environments
  • Understanding of standard costing and production workflows
  • Basic knowledge of GAAP and inventory accounting principles

Responsibilities

  • Assist in maintaining standard costs, bills of materials, and routing data within Business Central
  • Support monthly cost roll-ups and cost model updates
  • Analyze material, labor, and overhead variances and prepare summary reports
  • Assist with cost allocations, cost statements, and annual standard cost updates and audits
  • Perform daily and monthly inventory reconciliations between Business Central and physical counts
  • Investigate discrepancies and support cycle counts and physical inventory activities
  • Monitor inventory adjustments and production postings for accuracy
  • Assist in tracking inventory aging, slow-moving items, and obsolescence reserves
  • Enter, validate, and maintain cost and inventory-related data
  • Assist with system configuration related to costing and item setup
  • Provide support to end users by troubleshooting basic system issues
  • Document processes, workflows, and participate in system upgrades and testing
  • Assist with month-end close activities related to cost of goods sold, work-in-process, and inventory accounts
  • Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations
  • Support internal and external audit requests
  • Collaborate with purchasing, production, and warehouse teams to ensure data accuracy
