About The Position
The Staff Accountant supports the day-to-day accounting operations of the organization, including general ledger maintenance, reconciliations, and financial reporting. This role performs core accounting functions - including reconciliations, journal entries, and reporting support - in accordance with established accounting policies, internal controls, and monthly close deadlines. Work is primarily transactional and support-level, performed under the review and guidance of senior accounting staff, with increasing autonomy as proficiency develops.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (required)
- 1 to 4 years of accounting experience in a manufacturing environment
- Ability to apply knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
- Proficient in MS Excel and ERP software
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Sense of urgency and ability to deliver expected results
- Ability to research, compile, analyze, and interpret data
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
Responsibilities
- Prepare and post journal entries to the general ledger
- Reconcile cash sheet weekly and balance sheet accounts monthly
- Assist with month-end and year-end close processes
- Support accounts payable and accounts receivable functions as needed
- Prepare supporting schedules for financial statements and audits as needed
- Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports
- Help maintain accurate fixed asset and depreciation records
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies
- Assist with sales tax filings and other regulatory reporting
- Identify and resolve discrepancies in financial records
- Support external auditors during annual audits by providing requested documentation
- Perform other accounting duties and special projects as assigned
- Assist with Cost Accounting as proficiency develops
