About The Position

Under the direct report of the Director of Accounting, the Staff Accountant performs accounts payable functions, and is responsible for the proper & timely recording of financial transactions in the general ledger in accordance with GAAP and Avow Policies. Other responsibilities include performing account analyses, preparing account reconciliations, & preparing accounting statement & reports. Plans, coordinates, and resolves accounting matters with other finance members, departments and locations. Develops solutions to a variety of problems of moderate difficulty in scope & complexity.

Requirements

  • BA degree in Accounting or 4 years related experience and / -or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Valid Florida driver’s license.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community, effectively present information to top management.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probabilities and statistics with the ability to apply concepts to practical situations in healthcare.
  • Knowledge of basic typing skills, data entry and word processing software.
  • In-depth knowledge of Excel and General Ledger computer applications.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure timely weekly check runs, upload positive pay into banking software and void checks as needed
  • Routes scanned invoices to managers for approval
  • Post Invoices daily
  • File paid invoices weekly
  • Select Invoices to be paid in accounts payable system
  • Prepare month end accounts payable accrual entries
  • Prepare monthly bank accounts reconciliation.
  • Prepare and file monthly sales tax return
  • Assist with the monthly financial preparations and annual audit schedules as assigned by Director of Accounting
  • Ensure proper & timely recording of financial transactions in the general ledger in accordance to GAAP and AVOW policy
  • Participates in month-end close activities including preparation of journal entries
  • Research & resolves questionable entries from various departments
  • Assists with information gathering and reporting related to preparation of monthly financial statements
  • Prepares monthly account reconciliation
  • Assists with preparation of annual tax returns as assigned by the Director of Accounting
  • Assists with preparation of annual budget as assigned by the Director of Accounting
  • Other duties as assigned to achieve a teamwork environment
