About The Position

True Classic is hiring a Staff Accountant to take ownership of core accounting operations that support an accurate, timely, and audit-ready financial close process. This role will support month-end close, reconciliations, financial analysis, operational accounting activities, and corporate compliance responsibilities, ensuring financial accuracy, strong controls, and reliable reporting across the organization. This role is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, execution-focused, analytical, and highly accountable and can drive accurate execution, maintain financial rigor, and support a fast-paced finance organization in a rapidly evolving environment. All of True Classic’s roles are global and omni-channel, leading designated areas of accountability across all product categories, countries, and sales and marketing channels. This role will have impact across DTC, retail, wholesale, marketplaces, and emerging channels, ensuring strategic alignment and executional rigor across the enterprise.

Requirements

  • 2–3 years of accounting experience, preferably within public accounting, audit, or a high-growth corporate environment.
  • Experience with NetSuite or a comparable ERP system, as well as advanced Excel and Google Sheets functionality.
  • Strong accounting, reconciliation, analytical, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to research issues, solve problems, and execute with a high degree of accuracy and ownership.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, work cross-functionally, and maintain strong attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Public accounting or audit experience, including Big 4 or regional firm exposure.
  • Experience with Blue Onion, Ramp, Shopify, Amazon Seller Central, Carta, or similar finance and reconciliation platforms.
  • Strong understanding of e-commerce, CPG, retail, or multi-channel business models.
  • Experience supporting equity administration, cap table management, payroll tax compliance, or corporate compliance activities.
  • Demonstrated proficiency using AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, or similar technologies to improve productivity and workflow effectiveness.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA candidate preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and post journal entries for accruals, prepaids, fixed assets, and other recurring close activities.
  • Maintain close calendars, checklists, and supporting documentation to ensure timely completion of month-end activities.
  • Support the Assistant Controller in delivering a clean, accurate, and on-schedule close process.
  • Develop and maintain accounting SOPs and documentation as processes evolve.
  • Own assigned balance sheet reconciliations, including bank accounts, merchant processors, credit cards, and intercompany accounts.
  • Support multi-channel revenue reconciliations across Shopify, Amazon, wholesale, and other sales channels.
  • Assist with implementation and ongoing operation of reconciliation tools and supporting technologies.
  • Investigate discrepancies, document findings, and escalate unresolved issues appropriately.
  • Perform variance analysis by comparing actual results to budget and forecast expectations.
  • Draft variance explanations and support FP&A and Controller reporting requirements.
  • Assist with accounts payable processes, invoice matching, coding reviews, and exception management.
  • Coordinate with offshore accounting resources to ensure timely and accurate completion of assigned deliverables.
  • Own equity administration activities, including maintaining cap table accuracy, managing Carta records, supporting option grants, and coordinating equity-related reporting and documentation.
  • Administer state and local tax compliance requirements, including payroll withholding registrations, unemployment insurance accounts, and related agency filings.
  • Partner with Payroll, HR, and external providers to ensure employee tax registrations and reporting obligations are maintained across all operating jurisdictions.
  • Monitor compliance deadlines, maintain supporting documentation, and coordinate responses to state agency notices, audits, and information requests.
  • Maintain audit-ready documentation and supporting schedules for corporate compliance, equity, and tax-related activities.
  • Assist with audit requests, lender reporting requirements, and preparation of supporting schedules as needed.
  • Support ongoing process improvements and automation initiatives related to compliance, reporting, and corporate administration.
  • Leverage AI tools to improve documentation, research, workflow efficiency, and operational effectiveness while maintaining appropriate human review standards.
  • Partner with Accounting leadership and FP&A to support financial reporting, variance analysis, and close activities.
  • Work with Accounts Payable, Finance Operations, Payroll, HR, and offshore accounting teams to ensure accurate transaction processing, compliance, and reconciliations.
  • Collaborate across Finance, Operations, Technology, external auditors, and third-party service providers to maintain financial accuracy, operational efficiency, and audit readiness.
